Within close proximity to Five Points, Devine, and Rosewood, and within walking distance of the USC campus, Shandon is one of the largest neighborhoods in Columbia. From traditional four-square brick to bungalow-style, there is a variety of architecture amongst the homes in Shandon. Residents of the neighborhood range from families to retirees to college students, meaning everyone is welcome. Although the shopping and entertainment of city life are only minutes away, the shaded trees and sidewalks that Shandon provides make this neighborhood a shelter from city life.
This neighborhood has a great history. The land Shandon was built on was bought by the Columbia Land and Investment Company beginning in 1890. The neighborhood gets its name from R.S. DesPortes, who thought the beauty of the land was similar to that of Shandon, Ireland. The neighborhood grew slowly after the land was purchased, but when Columbia's streetcar line was created in 1910, the number of homes rapidly increased in the area. This number only grew in the 1930s and 40s, when the nearby Fort Jackson was expanded. Though it was considered a retirement community in the 1950s, the 1960s brought in young families with a desire to live in a neighborhood in proximity to urban amenities.
The Shandon of today is a beautiful and multi-generational community. With gorgeous homes preserved in their architectural history and convenience to downtown Columbia, Shandon is one of the most desirable neighborhoods for residents in the City of Columbia.
Shandon is located in Richland County in the 29205 zip code and is zoned for Richland School District One -- A.C. Moore and Rosewood Elementary School, Hand Middle School, and Dreher High School.

Erin did a great job selling our house. She gave us great advice and took us through the process very professionally. We were told about each step and what to expect. I would highly recommend her and this reality.

I had the pleasure of working with Broker Tom Watson to find a home for my family. He was very knowledgeable about the area that I wanted to be in, current market and also helped me negotiate and get the best deal. I would definitely recommend W Realty if you are interested in buying or selling a home.

Jamie was absolutely amazing, friendly, professional, and the patience of a Saint. Worked with me for almost a year before I found the perfect home and ready to make the move. If I could give more than 5 stars I would 10 out of 10 recommend

W Realty really came through for us in helping us sell a condo. They made the process easy, handled everything, and helped us navigate uncharted territory when a buyer canceled our first contract. Highly recommend them.
